American Royal Media Interns

Baumgardner_HeadshotJamie Baumgardner
Hello fellow livestock enthusiasts! My name is Jamie Baumgardner and I am currently a senior at Oklahoma State University double majoring in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Communications. Born and raised in northwest Oklahoma, my passion for the agricultural industry began at an early age. I grew up showing pigs alongside my older sister, both being members of the National Junior Swine Association. My memories are filled with “family vacations” at no place other than livestock shows and I would not have had it any other way. The people I have met and the experiences I’ve had throughout the years are truly irreplaceable. I hope to always be involved in the agricultural industry and am excited to do so at the American Royal as a media intern.

GlenisterGabrielle Glenister
Greetings! My name is Gabrielle Glenister and I have the privilege of serving as one of the 2013 American Royal Media Interns. Originally from Pulaski, New York, I have played an active role on the family farm my entire life. Our small herd consists of an elite group of Angus females bred to perform in and out of the showring. I am finishing up my bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communications from Iowa State University. I am graduating in December 2013, and have been active on campus with the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and NAMA. An active member of the National Junior Angus Association since a young age, I completed my junior career in 2011. However, my passion for the agriculture industry, showing cattle and livestock, and working with youth in the industry didn’t stop there. I am here to “agvocate,” and I look forward to seeing you in Kansas City!

MehargLynsey Meharg
Greetings! My name is Lynsey Meharg and I am a junior at Texas Tech University pursuing an Agricultural Communications degree with a minor in Animal Science. A native of Florida, I have seen the diverse aspects of the agricultural industry, yet I am still grounded in animal agriculture. I believe that my number one priority should be promoting our industry. I have had that opportunity through the Texas Tech ACT. Agriculture, and the livestock industry in particular, has had a great impact on me as a person and I cannot think of a better industry to remain a part of after graduation. After graduating in May 2015, I hope to continue my involvement through a career in livestock marketing. Having only visited the American Royal before, I cannot express how thrilled I am to be a part this historic show as a media intern!

Mollie WilkenMollie Wilken
Hey everyone! My name is Mollie Wilken. I am a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln pursuing a degree in Agricultural Journalism with a minor in Animal Science. Being raised on my family’s farm and feedlot operation in Bloomfield, Neb., my passion for agriculture, specifically the beef industry, ignited at a young age. As the youngest of four children, I eagerly followed in their footsteps and showed cattle for 12 years. My love for agriculture has driven me to become a better “agvocate” both on and off-campus. I participate in ACT, the Nebraska Beef Industry Scholars program and Collegiate Farm Bureau.  After college, I hope to shape my career around promotion and communication in the beef industry. As a livestock enthusiast and 2013 media intern, I cannot begin to share my excitement for what is to come here at the American Royal!

You go, gals! Have a wonderful time at the Royal and share with us all of the sights and sounds we’re missing while sitting in our rockers back home. You’re to be commended for being selected for this opportunity. Can’t wait to see what you-all will do next!
